Operations Assistant (Part-Time / On-Call)


Position Overview

Harmonaire Musique is seeking an Operations Assistant to support the planning, setup, and coordination of live concerts across its 2026 season.


This part-time, on-call role ensures smooth concert operations, including venue preparation, front-of-house management, volunteer supervision, and audience support. The Assistant works closely with the Executive Director, Artistic Director, and concert teams to maintain professional standards across all events, including:


  • Montréal Blue Lounge Concert Series

  • Kingston Cataraqui Chamber Music Festival (two-week residency in August 2026)

  • Canadian National Touring Projects


Schedule flexibility is required; shifts include evenings, weekends.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with all front-of-house operations during concerts and events.

  • Lead and supervise volunteers and concert assistants; provide training on duties, house rules, and audience service standards.

  • Prepare venues before each event, including signage, programs, seating, and materials.

  • Ensure timely staffing of entry points and proper setup prior to concert start.

  • Collaborate with ticketing or registration staff to manage attendance, seating, and guest inquiries.

  • Serve as on-site point-of-contact for front-of-house issues, responding professionally and efficiently.

  • Assist with load-in, setup, and logistical coordination for touring or festival events.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure smooth concert operations.


Qualifications

  • Experience in front-of-house, event coordination, or volunteer management preferred.

  • Familiarity with classical music performance environments is an asset.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel as required.

  • Professional appearance and demeanor; strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.


Position Details

  • Part-time / on-call schedule: shifts assigned based on event calendars.

  • Locations: Montréal, Kingston, and select national tour venues.

  • Compensation: Hourly rate (to be determined based on experience).

  • Travel and accommodations for out-of-town events coordinated per assignment.
