Internship Overview

This internship offers a culturally diverse newcomer or first-generation immigrant professional the opportunity to gain comprehensive practical experience in arts marketing, advertising, and communications within an established Montréal arts organization. The intern will collaborate closely with the Executive Director and Artistic Director to design and execute multi-platform promotional campaigns for Harmonaire Musique’s 2026 concert season.



Key Responsibilities

1. Advertising Campaign Management (40%)

  • Conduct in-depth market research to identify optimal advertising platforms for events: local print media, cultural magazines, community newsletters, public transit, outdoor advertising (billboards, posters, street furniture), and digital platforms (Google Ads, Facebook/Instagram Ads, Spotify Ads, etc.).

  • Initiate and maintain professional communication with advertising vendors and venue managers; negotiate placement, pricing, contract terms, and deadlines.

  • Develop detailed advertising schedules aligned with event timelines and budget.

  • Coordinate with graphic designers and content creators to prepare, approve, and submit advertising materials that meet platform specifications and brand guidelines.

  • Monitor advertisement performance metrics using analytics tools; prepare weekly and final reports with actionable insights.


2. Outreach & Partnership Development (20%)

  • Proactively contact community centers, cultural organizations, local businesses, educational institutions, and public venues to arrange promotional material placement and distribution.

  • Support sponsorship proposal development and maintain media contact databases for press and partnership promotion.

  • Represent Harmonaire Musique at cultural fairs, networking events, and community gatherings.


3. Digital Marketing & Email Campaigns (25%)

  • Create and implement content calendars for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, including artist spotlights, event teasers, behind-the-scenes content, and audience engagement initiatives.

  • Manage and optimize paid social media advertising campaigns targeting relevant demographic groups.

  • Manage segmented email lists; design, write, and distribute newsletters and promotions using Mailchimp or equivalent; monitor engagement metrics and subscriber growth.

  • Analyze digital marketing data to assess campaign effectiveness and recommend improvements.


4. Branding, Content Creation & Internal Coordination (10%)

  • Draft and proofread press releases, artist bios, event descriptions, newsletters, and other promotional materials.

  • Ensure brand consistency and accessibility compliance across all communications.

  • Coordinate regularly with Executive and Artistic Directors to align messaging and campaign goals.


5. Reporting & Professional Development (5%)

  • Collaborate with supervisors to set internship goals and track progress.

  • Maintain detailed records of activities, contacts, contracts, and campaign results.

  • Participate in mid-term and final evaluations; submit reflective reports on learning and project impact.



Eligibility Requirements, Qualifications, and Attributes

Eligibility

  • Must be Canadian citizen or permanent resident at the time of application 


  • Culturally diverse newcomer or first-generation immigrant residing in Montréal.

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.


Education / Experience

  • Formal education or practical experience in Marketing, Communications, Cultural Management, Arts Administration, or related fields preferred.


Technical Proficiency

  • Expert user of digital advertising platforms (Google Ads, Facebook Business Manager).

  • Skilled with email marketing software (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, etc.).

  • Familiarity with social media management tools (Hootsuite, Buffer).

  • Basic graphic design skills (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).


Communication

  • Fluent written and spoken English; strong French skills are a plus.

  • Confident in professional outreach and negotiation.


Personal Attributes

  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, proactive, able to multitask and meet deadlines.

  • Passion for arts, culture, and community engagement; commitment to equity and inclusion.
