Staff Photographer (Independent Contractor)
Position Overview
Harmonaire Musique seeks a Staff Photographer to document the essential artistic and community experiences of its 2026 concert season across Canada.
The Photographer will capture performances, rehearsals, festivals, tours, artist portraits, community engagement activities, and behind-the-scenes moments across multiple projects, including:
Montréal Blue Lounge Concert Series
Kingston Cataraqui Chamber Music Festival (two-week residency in August 2026)
Canadian National Touring Projects
This is an Independent Contractor position. The Photographer must be available for flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends.
All photographs created during the contracted period shall be shared property of Harmonaire Musique and the Photographer, with usage rights granted to the organization for promotional, archival, digital, and print purposes.
Responsibilities
Photograph concerts, rehearsals, artist portraits, community programs, and special events as assigned.
Deliver edited, high-resolution images within 12–24 hours when required for media and social media usage.
Proactively capture compelling moments during festivals and tours, including informal artist interactions and audience engagement.
Cover approximately 3–5 assignments per week during peak periods (varies by project schedule).
Perform professional photo editing using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom to ensure consistency with organizational branding.
Lead one structured on-location portrait session per major project (artists or ensembles), including lighting setup and artistic direction.
Maintain organized digital archives and properly labeled files for institutional records.
Requirements
Must provide own professional-grade camera equipment suitable for low-light classical concert environments (camera must have silent shutter capability).
Must provide own laptop, editing software (Photoshop and Lightroom), and calibrated monitor suitable for professional post-production.
Demonstrated experience in performing arts photography strongly preferred.
Ability to work discreetly and respectfully within live classical performance settings.
Professional demeanor and presentation at all times.
Valid driver’s license preferred (project-dependent).
Contract Dates
Project-based engagements throughout the 2026 season, including:
Montréal Concert Series (during March-November 2026)
Kingston Chamber Music Festival Residency (Two Weeks – August 2026)
Select Canadian National Tour Dates (During June-November 2026)
Specific project dates will be confirmed upon contracting.
Compensation
Compensation is competitive and based on experience level.

Travel and accommodation arrangements for out-of-city projects will be discussed and agreed upon in advance on a per-project basis.
